Welcome to the NAACP Racine Branch Website

Dear Members and Supporters,

Rev. Merdis Hudson
I am honored to introduce myself as the newly elected president of the
Racine Branch of the NAACP. We have work to do! Although I was
born in Mississippi, as far back as I remember, I spent summers in
Racine until I moved here permanently with my mother.
I am the mother of 2 sons: Tony and Cory and the grandmother of four.
I received a BS from UW-Parkside, Kenosha, WI; I received an MBA
from Averett University, Richmond, VA; and a Master of Education
from Virginia State University, Petersburg, VA.
In September 2026, I retired from the Federal government as a Lead
Program Specialist at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. I also have
experience in human services having worked as a program manager and
supervisor in a non-profit and state government.

I served in the military as a Quartermaster officer, leaving service after
16 years as a captain.

I have served on several boards and coalitions, but none has been as dear
to me as the NAACP. In addition to being President f the Racine Branch,
I am the Religious Affairs Chair for the Wisconsin State Conference of
Branches.

I am a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority where I once served as the
Social Action Chair.

God has been good to me! I am an ordained elder in the African
Methodist Episcopal Zion denomination. I have served as a pastor,
member of the steward board, and vice-president of the deaconess board.
I enjoy spending quality time with my family and working in my
community. Together we stand divided we all fall! We are all family and
need to support our neighbors.

Let’s start by holding our leaders accountable for their actions but let’s
start by holding the person that looks back at us from a mirror
accountable.
Blessings to all!
President
